Red Deer’s Ernco Braves go 4-0 in opening weekend games

Braves shot out Edmonton Padres in four straight games

Red Deer’s U15 AAA Ernco Braves had a perfect start to their season at Great Chief Park on the weekend.

The Braves beat the visiting Edmonton Padres by scores of 10-0, 11-0, 11-0 and 10-0 in Saturday and Sunday games.

In the first game on Saturday, starting pitcher Tanner Morrow allowed no runs and two hits over five innings, while striking out 11.

In the second Saturday game, Nathan Flewwelling allowed no runs and one hit over seven innings, striking out 18. Evan Russell and Avery Coumont had three hits each in the team’s 18-hit performance.

On Sunday, the Braves pitchers continued their dominance with Jake Brooks allowing no runs and two hits over four innings, striking out seven with no walks. Evan Russell threw one inning in relief.

Jake Brooks went 3-3 at the plate.

In the second Sunday game, five Braves pitchers combined for the shutout. Luke Schmitt earned the win with a one-inning two-hit, no-run performance. Wyatt McKeen, Avery Coumont, Addison Giesbrecht and Brett Hall shared relief duties.

Flewwelling and Schmitt each had three hits, with Flewwelling adding another three stolen bases.
