Red Deer’s Ken Griffith helped Team Alberta win its third straight Senior Inter-Provincial Team Championship on Wednesday.
A trio of golfers made up of Griffith, as well as Brian Laubman and James Varnam from Edmonton, shot a combined two under par to take home the title at the 2023 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship at the Big Sky Golf Club in Pemberton, B.C.
“Being on the team is a great honour in our province,” said Griffth following back-to-back title wins with Alberta.
“Alberta takes the team event very seriously and we have a lot of very competitive golfers. It means a lot; we’re representing all of the Alberta golfers and we really enjoy that. And it’s a great honour to be able to play at the national level and represent your province.”
Griffith led the way shooting an even par 72 on the final day after entering the round with a four-shot lead. Laubman shot two over par followed by a four over par performance by Varnam.
Alberta finished seven shots ahead of Team New Brunswick who shot five over par followed by Manitoba at 10 over par.
Griffith continues to be in the hunt for the individual lead in the 2023 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship heading into the final round on Friday.
