Red Deer’s Rebecca Smith will get another chance at Olympic glory on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old helped Canada’s 4x100 metre freestyle relay team land on the podium with a silver medal over the weekend in Tokyo.

Wednesday morning around 5:30 a.m. MT, Smith will race in the 4x200m relay. She had the third-fastest time among Canadians at the 2020 Canadian Olympic Trials in the 200m freestyle, which took place in late June.

Sixteen teams compete in two relay heats, with Canada racing in the second heat. The top eight advance to the final, which will take place around 9:30 p.m. MT Wednesday.

Canada’s entry time of seven minutes and 44.35 seconds is third behind only Australia and the United States.
