Special Olympics is more than simply an athletic program. The Special Olympics International website notes that participants not only develop physical skills, they also develop greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image.
The Alberta Special Olympics event held recently in St. Albert upheld the international philosophy of perseverance, the importance of teamwork, dedication and building citizenship through sports.
And the Red Deer team did our city proud.
