Red Deer’s Tricia Madourie wins gold at Canadian Track and Field Championships

Red Deer athlete Tricia Madourie is a national champion.

Over the weekend Madourie won the gold medal in the U20 women’s high jump event with a 1.77 metre jump at the 2023 Canadian Track and Field Championships.

She also placed fifth in the U20 women’s long jump event with a personal best 5.57m jump.

From July 27-30 athletes from across Canada competed in Langley, B.C. and the event consisted of categories such as senior, U20, para-athletics, and combined events.

Also, Red Deer’s Kaycee McKenzie claimed first place in the women’s U20 heptathlon javelin throw at 32.85m.

Other central Albertans who competed include Paige Zinger, Jamie Debrujin, Jade Cullen, Jeremiah Lauzon, and Katelyn Pasutto.
