It was an incredible start to the new year for Red Deer’s Ty Daneault.

After a stellar month of hockey in January, the 18-year-old earned Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) honours.

The Drumheller Dragons forward led all AJHL players last month with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 12 games. In that time he posted six multi-point games and held a ten-game point streak. He also won the AJHL star of the game four times in January.

In just his second season in the league, Daneault is third in the AJHL with 31 goals, ninth in points, and leads the Dragons with 57 points.
