Stettler Wildcats down Notre Dame in semi-finals, headed to finals

The Stettler Wildcats kept their lossless streak alive in semi-final action on Oct. 29.

Hosting Red Deer’s Notre Dame Cougars, the Wildcats struck early and often, dominating the play.

Wildcats scored their first touchdown around 10-minutes into the game, playing a strongly defensive game.

Throughout play the Wildcats only allowed two touchdowns, along with a pair of conversions.

“Our team is continuing to have an incredible year so far,” said Head Coach Norbert Baharally.

“We are hopeful that it will continue next week as we host the Hunting Hills Lightning in the league final. We had some of our starters that were not 100% due to some coughs, aches and pains but our younger players stepped up and filled in quite nicely when they were needed. Our offence had a very balanced attack and our defence was solid again.”

The final score for the game was 49-14 in favour of the Wildcats.

With Hunting Hills having defeated Sylvan Lake in semi-final play on Oct. 28, the final is set when Stettler will host Huntington Hills at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5 on home turf.

Hunting Hills currently ranks ninth in Tier II (schools with a population of 750 to 1,249) with a record of 5 wins and 3 losses.
