Last summer, Stettler’s Daylan Kuefler’s dream came true.

In the 2022 NHL Entry Draft the 21-year-old was selected 174th overall by the New York Islanders.

And on Friday Kuefler took one more step in solidifying his dream of playing professional hockey by signing with the team who drafted him.

The Kamloops Blazers forward signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Islanders. This means next season Kuefler will either be playing with the Islanders or their American Hockey League affiliate the Bridgeport Islanders.

In the meantime, Kuefler alongside his Blazers teammates are preparing to host the 2023 Memorial Cup in Kamloops.

In the last four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Blazers, he’s accumulated 77 goals and 67 assists for 144 points. In 30 career WHL playoff games, he’s added 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points.

In the 2022-23 season, he reached a career-high in points (61) and assists (30) as an assistant captain.
