Bantam AAA Rebels earn tie in lone weekend AMBHL game

The Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs earned their first win of Alberta Female Hockey League play Sunday.

Red Deer shutout the Calgary Fire 2-0 at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Ridleigh Hansen stopped all 31 shots she faced to earn the win.

Lacey Bullee opened the scoring for the Sutter Fund Chiefs and Katie Charko added a power play goal in the third period. Aryn Chambers, Julie Wagner, Hailey Hoogkamp and Chloe Shingoose all added assists in the win.

Bantam AAA Rebels

The Bantam AAA Rebels tied their only game in Alberta Bantam AAA Hockey League action.

Sunday, they played to a 3-3 draw with the Calgary Bisons.

Red Deer led 2-1 after 40 minutes but allowed a goal with 63 seconds left from the Bison in the third to earn the tie. The Rebels got goals from Josh Perreault, Coy Pighin and Chase Walker. Emmett Barnett had two helpers, while Nate Thompson, Caleb Hadland, Colby Joyce and Quinn Sampson-Goodman each added an assist.

Midget AAA

The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs dropped a pair of tight games on the weekend in Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League play.

Red Deer was shutout 1-0 on Saturday by the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers. Fort Saskatchewan netminder Beckett Langkow turned aside 32 shots for the goose egg, while Logan Breen stopped 25 for the Optimist Chiefs.

Back on the road Sunday, Red Deer only found the net once in a 2-1 defeat against the Lloydminster Bobcats. Jayden Henderson scored the lone goal on the power play, with assists from Tyler Mackenzie and Tristan Baumung. Colby Knight made 18 saves in the loss. Lloydminster goalie Tristan Martin stopped 37 shots for the win.
