Swimmer Rebecca Smith wins multiple medals at Commonwealth Games

She won two bronze in relay competitions

Red Deer’s Rebecca Smith has added two medals to her collection after winning a pair of swimming competitions during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The international tournament happens every four years and this year began on July 28 to Aug. 8.

Smith and her teammates accomplished their first bronze medal on July 29 during the mixed 4X100 metre freestyle relay Final in 3:24.86. Smith finished her relay race with an individual time of 54.41.

The next day on July 30 the Canadians earned another bronze medal in the women’s 4X100m freestyle relay in 3:37.25. Smith swam in 55.08 seconds to help her teammates claim third place in the final.

On Aug. 2 Canada earned second place during the mixed 4X100m medley relay in heat three in a time of 3:51.43. Smith, who was Canada’s fourth swimmer, finished in 55.32.
