Gulls rebound against the Bombers

The Sylvan Lake Gulls avenged their loss to the Brooks Bombers from the night before beating them 11-3 at Gulls Stadium on Wednesday night.

Just 24 hours earlier the Bombers defeated Sylvan Lake 4-3 on their home field to snap the Gulls' two-game winning streak.

Starting pitcher Owen Pote, who was recently drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2024 MLB Draft, threw two scoreless innings for the Gulls before he was pulled for Wyoming's Ben Bohlmann.

Zach Gregory from Colorado, Tyler Boden From Spokane, Olemedo Quezada, and Sylvan Lake's Tyler Boudreau all pitched for the Gulls throughout the night.

In the batter's box, Ontario's Gavin Roy with five hits on six at-bats. He also led with four runs batted in and only Matty Fung, Brock Tijerina, and Jackson Boomer added an RBI each.

Spokane's Jace Phelan also had a productive night at the plate with three hits on fie at-bats but was unable to record an RBI.

Next up for the Gulls, they'll take Thursday off before returning to the field on Friday for the start of a three-game road series over the weekend against the Fort McMurray Giants that ends on Sunday.

The Gulls remain in first place in the WCBL's West Division with a 35-12 record with just nine games left in the season. The defending champion Okotoks Dawgs are just one game back from first place.
