The Sylvan Lake Gulls improve to 17-8 on the season after a 7-5 win over the Lethbridge Bulls on the road Thursday night.

At Spitz Stadium in Lethbridge, the Gulls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning but the Bulls added a run in the bottom half.

Sylvan Lake added three more at the top of the fourth to lead 7-1. However, Lethbridge made a push in the sixth inning scoring four runs but that was as close as they got.

Gulls starting pitcher Carson Angeroth was solid on the mound striking out six through five innings. He also allowed one run on three hits.

Jared Arnold replaced Angeroth in the sixth inning and pitched one-third of an inning allowing four runs on one hit.

Arnold was followed by Nathan Naccarato and Tyler McWillie who both prevented the Bulls from scoring.

Ty Boudreau closed the game in the final two innings striking out a batter in the process.

First baseman Cleary Simpson led the way with two RBIs and three hits on five at-bats. Jonah Weisner, Carson Coffield, and Hank Dodson all knocked in a run.

The Gulls began a seven-game road trip on Monday with a loss to the Okotoks Dawgs but responded with a 12-6 win over the Swift Current 57s. Swift Current returned the favour on Wednesday beating Sylvan Lake 4-0.

The Gulls’ road trip concludes with a three-game series against the Fort McMurray Giants that begins on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
