After the Sylvan Lake Gulls were blown out on the road in Okotoks on Friday, the team picked up a pair of victories over the weekend.
Saturday, the Gulls were in Brooks to face the Bombers and Sylvan Lake exploded offensively in a 13-5 win. Kaden Zarowny had a great night in the batters’ box knocking in five RBIs on three hits.
Sunday, the Gulls played the Bombers in a double header, losing the first game 12-9 before grabbing an 11-2 in game two.
In the opener, the Gulls had a 6-3 lead after the first inning, but gve up eight runs in the final three innings on the way to the loss. Gulls pinch hitter Zach Griffin has two RBI while Jack Schark cranked a two-run homer in the opening frame.
In game 2, the Gulls went up 2-0 in the second inning the Gulls didn’t look back the rest of the game. Tyler McWillie, Ethan He, and Chase Rodriguez all had a home run. Ty Boudreau pitched all seven innings striking out 11 and only allowing four hits.
Sylvan Lake returned home on June 27 to play Fort McMurray but after a long rain delay after the game started it was postponed to a later date.
The 14-9 Gulls will next head to Fort McMurray to play three games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
