The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) made its way to the Carstairs Golf Course July 18-19 for the MJT Alberta Series and the Calgary City Junior Girls Championship, which had a record number of junior girls participating.

In the under-15 girl’s division, Red Deer’s Raylee Denton shot 83 and 86 to finish second behind Calgary’s Aleah Shields-Rodipe.

Sylvan Lake’s Jacob Natomagan shot 91 and 87 to claim third place in the peewee boys competition. However, another Sylvan Lake competitor, Brady Durkin beat out the competition in the bantam boys division to claim first place after he shot 72.

“I’m very excited after putting in a lot of work into my golf game over the summer. Having seven birdies over the two rounds was the highlight. If my mind ever wonders during the game, I just try to refocus, breathe, and have something to eat,” Durkin said in a media release.

The next stop on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour will be on August 4-5 for the SAIT Trojans Classic at Turner Valley Golf Course.
