Caleb Hadland is one step closer to realizing his WHL dream.

The Sylvan Lake native signed Wednesday with the Brandon Wheat Kings after he was drafted 22nd overall in the 2021 WHL Prospects draft last month.

The 15-year-old, who plays at the Yale Hockey Academy in B.C. and suited up for two seasons with the Red Deer U15AAA Rebels, was also the captain of Team Alberta at the 2021 WHL Cup in Red Deer. He has 12 goals and five assists in 18 games with Yale this season.

“Caleb plays the game hard all the time,” said director of player personnel Chris Moulton in a news release.

“He is an on-ice and off-ice leader in every group that he is involved with. He has really good hockey instincts, he has a nice touch around the net, he plays a very strong 200-foot game that creates offence.”
