From the pitch to the court, a pair of Red Deer Polytechnic athletes had a weekend to remember.

Fourth-year Queens guard Amy Szymanek and second-year soccer/ basketball player Eduardo Crespo earned Athlete of the Week honours.

In the Queens home opener Friday, Amy Szymanek had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She was player of the game for her efforts in a losing cause. Saturday, on the road in Calgary against the St. Mary’s Lightning, she had 22-points and was player of the game once again.

Crespo pulled double duty Saturday, suiting up for the RDP Kings soccer team on Saturday afternoon, before taking the trek down to Calgary to join his Kings basketball teammates. Crespo was a big part of the Kings 3-3 draw against the Olds College Broncos soccer team, with three assists in the contest.

He started for the Kings on the basketball court later that night, with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. It was his leadership ability and effort that kept the game close against the Lightning.
