Central Alberta showed well to kick off the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ont.

As a whole, Alberta picked up four medals on Day 1 Sunday, with Sylvan Lake’s Abbi Bahler helping win bronze in the pool in the 4X200 metre freestyle relay. On the men’s side, Cooper Waddle of Red Deer also helped Alberta win bronze in the 4x200 metre relay. Both swimmers are members of the Red Deer Catalina Swim Club.

Alberta also won a silver medal in the women’s freestyle para event thanks to Sherwood Park’s Breanna White and won gold in the men’s freestyle para event from St. Albert’s Reid Maxwell.

The Games will take place over the next two weeks.
