Close to signing
Taylor Hall expects to sign a deal with the Edmonton Oilers on today. The first-overall draft pick by the Oilers announced the likelihood of inking a deal heading into the team’s developmental camp for young players in Edmonton beginning on Tuesday. “I’m pretty sure I’ll be signing my contract (Monday),” said Hall, who attended the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos game against the B.C. Lions at Commonwealth Stadium on Sunday. He also said he will probably not take No. 4 as his jersey number, in deference to Oilers president Kevin Lowe, but that he has not decided what number to take. Hall’s father, Steve, was signed by the Edmonton Eskimos as a receiver before being traded to Winnipeg. He also spent time playing in Ottawa.
