Three members of the Red Deer Rebels have been placed among the best North American skaters in the latest NHL Central Scouting mid-term rankings ahead of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Forward Kalan Lind, Kai Uchacz, and defenceman Matteo Fabrizi were three of 51 Western Hockey League players who made the list of over 200 junior hockey players.
Lind, who was a B-rated prospect back in October, has been ranked 23rd among North American skaters.
The Shaunavon, Sask. native has 10 goals and 23 assists for 33 points this season and will be playing in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game at the end of the month. He also helped Team Canada win the gold medal during the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Red Deer last summer.
Despite leading the WHL with 34 goals, Kai Uchacz is only ranked 130th. The right-handed forward is in his second season with the Rebels and has contributed 52 points in 39 games.
Fabrizi was 215th on the list and in his second year with the Rebels has posted five goals and four assists for nine points. The 6’5” tall defenceman from St. Albert has already surpassed his point total from last year with two goals and five assists.
Also on the list is Red Deer native Nate Danielson, who was rated 13th best. The 18-year-old has elevated his game for the Brandon Wheat Kings this season contributing 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points.
Fellow Red Deerian Harrison Lodewyk, who plays for the Prince Albert Raiders, and Ty Daneault from the Drumheller Dragons, both made the list rated 217 and 222.
