The U15 AAA Red Deer Rebels are moving on to the second round of the playoffs after winning their opening series.

The Rebels defeated the Calgary Flames two games to one in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) south division quarter-finals.

After a loss in Game 1, the Rebels won Game 2 at home 6-5 and won the series with a 5-4 victory in Calgary in Game 3.

In the division semi-finals, the Rebels will have their hands full when they take on the league-best Airdrie Xtreme. The Xtreme has only lost one game all season long but the Rebels will look to change that.

The best-of-three series begins on Thursday, March 16 in Airdrie but the Rebels return home on Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. at Servus Arena.
