U16 Central Alberta Huskies edged in Football Alberta showcase

Red Deer played host to the 2021 Football Alberta Summer series over the weekend, giving elite-level talent across the province a chance to showcase their skills.

Red Deer played host to the 2021 Football Alberta Summer series over the weekend, giving elite-level talent across the province a chance to showcase their skills.

The event featured two U18 teams, two U17 groups and four U16 teams which squared off in a showcase-style event Sunday.

The U16 Central Alberta Huskies group lost a tight game, 35-27 against the Alberta South Knights.

The Edmonton North Golden Bears downed the Calgary Metro Colts 26-13 and the Calgary Metro edged the North Edmonton Wildcats 13-12.

The U17 South group knocked off Team North 34-3. For Team North from Red Deer, wide receiver Aaron Brewster and defensive back Cohen Gardiner participated, as well as Stettler’s Kyle Dennis.

In the U18 game, U18 South knocked off North 24-23. Running back’s Spencer Juricic of Rocky Mountain House and Nolan Baragar of Red Deer represented Team North in the loss.
