U18 AAA CarStar Braves win silver medal in provincial championship

The minor baseball season has officially wrapped up after the remaining provincial champions were crowned on the weekend.

Red Deer teams had plenty to cheer about after the U18 AA Kirk Tirecraft Braves brought home the gold medal after beating the Lloydminster Twins 11-1.

The 13U AA1 Northstar Sports Braves also won the gold medal knocking off the Sherwood Park Athletics 14-4. The braves had to win a tiebreaker plus four straight to come away with the hardware.

Meanwhile, the Red Deer U18 AAA Tier I CarStar Braves won the silver medal after a hard-fought tournament in the Baseball Alberta Elite League (BAEL). The Braves lost in the provincial final 10-0 to the St. Albert Cardinals in St. Albert on Sunday.

The Braves were 5-0 in the tournament heading into the finals beating the Calgary Cubs, Okotoks Dawgs, Sherwood Park Dukes, and a walk-off win in the eighth inning against the Parkland Dukes.

They were also the top team in the regular season only losing six games and winning 33.
