Red Deer Rebels defenceman Christoffer Sedoff has earned an NHL contract.
On Thursday afternoon the Vegas Golden Knights announced they signed Sedoff to a three-year entry-level contract.
The 21-year-old from Helsinki, Finland was not selected in last year’s NHL Entry Draft and was invited to the Calgary Flames training camp. However, the Flames decided not to sign him and he returned to Red Deer.
Weighing in at 196 pounds and standing six-foot one-inch tall, he leads all Rebels defenceman with 45 points in 53 games. Sedoff is in his third year with the Rebels and last season was named to the WHL’s Central First All-Star Team.
After serving a four-game suspension for a hit to the head on Feb. 20 against the Medicine Hat Tigers, Sedoff should return to the lineup Friday night in Brandon.
