Vipers, Rams, Wranglers earn weekend Heritage Junior B wins

The Red Deer Vipers picked up a 2-0 shutout over the Airdrie Techmation Thunder in Heritage Junior B Hockey League play over the weekend.

The Red Deer Vipers picked up a 2-0 shutout over the Airdrie Techmation Thunder in Heritage Junior B Hockey League play over the weekend.

With the win, the Vipers improved to 5-2 on the HJHL season. Vipers goalie Josh Hilts stopped all 28 shots in the victory and Rylan Burns and Mark Janes each had goals. Marcus Laisnez, Tanner Scott, Brandon Letendre and Adam Heindel all had assists.

The Sylvan Lake Wranglers also earned a shutout Sunday, after a 4-3 loss to the Cochrane Generals Saturday.

In the 3-0 shutout over the Three Hills Thrashers, Peyton Lobe stopped 30 shots for the win. Foxx Doell, Konnor Green and Kaden Suski all scored for the Wranglers.

In the loss Saturday, Patrick Forde had a pair of goals, Dean Olenyk had two assists, while, Connor Stephenson and Ryan Davis added goals for Sylvan Lake.

The Rocky Mountain House Rams picked up two wins on the weekend, with a 4-3 overtime win Saturday and a 5-4 shootout victory Sunday. Kyle Humphrey had a pair of tallies, while Ben Pullyblank, Preston Montgomery added goals. Humphrey’s second of the night was the overtime winner.

In the shootout victory, Tristan Hoffus and Nick Jervis scored, while Devon Carroll turned aside both Coaldale Copperheads shooters. Both Grady Mofford and Jervis had a goal and assist in regulation. Quinn Tomalty and Montgomery also scored for the Rams.
