CHL Import netminder Jiri Patera was brilliant for the Wheat Kings, turning aisde 41 shots in the 2-1 victory over Red Deer at Westoba Place. Patera was first star on the night for his efforts.

Despite the Rebels outshooting Brandon 15-10 in the opening 20 minutes, Luka Burzan got the home side on the board first with just 42 seconds left in the first period.

Dallon Melin responded for Red Deer in the second, notching his fifth of the year to tie the game. In the second, Red Deer outshot the Wheat Kings 18-7.

Marcus Sekundiak buried the game-winner just past the midway point of the third for Brandon.

The Rebels were 0-for-4 on the power play in the loss, while the Wheat Kings were 0-for-2.

Red Deer was playing without captain and top defenceman Dawson Barteaux, who was traded Friday before the WHL Trade Deadline to the Winnipeg ICE.

The Rebels will finish their four game road swing Saturday in Winnipeg against the ICE.
