WHL Roundup: Bedard’s late winner lifts Pats to 4-3 win over Broncos

SWIFT CURRENT — Connor Bedard put the icing on top of a two-goal night with the game winner as eight seconds remained to lead the Regina Pats to a 4-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday.

Tied at 1-1, Easton Armstrong put Regina (6-4-0) up 2-1 with 44 seconds remaining in the first. Bedard followed up in the second period with his first of the night.

Six minutes later, Matthew Ward scored on a power play to make it 3-2 for the Broncos (2-5-0), before adding a short-handed goal 4:30 into the third to knot the game at 3-3.

Bedard stole the show at 19:52 as his goal sent the Pats to their sixth win on the year.

KELOWNA, B.C. — Beau Courtney scored what proved to be the winner to lead Everett (6-1-0) past Kelowna (3-4-1). Courtney’s goal put the Silvertips up 5-3 before Andrew Cristall scored for the Rockets with just 14 seconds remaining to make it a one-score game.

SPOKANE, WA. — Blake Swetlikoff scored a goal and added two assists as Spokane (3-3-0) topped Medicine Hat (3-4-1). Cooper Michaluk stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced in the win.

KENT, WA. — Scott Ratzlaff earned a shut out as Seattle (6-0-0) had seven different players score in its win over Edmonton (1-7-1). The Thunderbirds sit atop the Western Conference as they remain undefeated.

KENNEWICK, WA. — Caedan Bankier recorded a hat trick as Kamloops (4-1-0) handily defeated Tri-City (2-5-0). Logan Stankoven scored twice while Connor Levis and Daylan Kuefler netted goals for the Blazers.

LANGLEY, B.C. — Jake Chiasson notched a goal and two assists as Brandon (4-2-1) beat Vancouver (1-3-1-2) behind three unanswered goals. Carson Bjarnason had 32 saves while Rylen Roersma, Brett Hyland and Roger McQueen also scored for the Wheat Kings.
