PEACE RIVER — Provincials did not start off well for the Heritage Junior B champs Wednesday as the Blackfalds Wranglers lost 6-4 to the Whitecourt Wolverines who dropped one game all year.

The Wranglers fell behind 3-0 10 minutes into the game but stormed back to tie it at 3-3 on goals by Scott Kallis, Chance Abbott and Jared Lenz.

Whitecourt jumped ahead 4-3, but once again the Wranglers managed to tie it up on a Jason Bell tally.

It wasn’t enough, however, as the Wranglers took some undisciplined penalties in the final 10 minutes and the Wolverines pulled ahead for good.

Tanner Schalin took the loss in net for Blackfalds.

The Wranglers face the Beaumont Chiefs today at 10 a.m.

In other action the Red Deer Vipers tied the host North Peace Navigators 3-3.

Maverick Blair had a goal and an assist for the Vipers while Justin Moir and Lee Fraser also scored for Red Deer.

Mike Stone House made 24 saves in the tie while the VIpers fired 33 shots at the North peace net.

The Vipers will play the defending provincial champion Lloydminster Bandits today at 4 p.m. The Bandits also tied their opener 3-3 with the Edmonton Warriors on Wednesday.

No other results were available at press time.
