19 local players to attend football selection camp

A total of 19 players from the Central Alberta High School Football League will attend the North selection camp for the 2012 Senior Bowl Friday to Sunday at Edmonton’s Clarke Stadium.

A total of 19 players from the Central Alberta High School Football League will attend the North selection camp for the 2012 Senior Bowl Friday to Sunday at Edmonton’s Clarke Stadium. The camp will feature 180 players from throughout northern Alberta competing for 40 spots on the North roster for the Senior Bowl game versus the South team May 21 at Foote Field in Edmonton.

The Rocky Mountain House Rebels will send six players to the North camp — tailback Castin Anger, running back Chris Soodsma and defensive linemen Warren Allen, Wyatt Dillman, Chris Lublinkhof and Liam Willis. The Hunting Hills Lightning will be represented by three players — linebacker Mark Beingessner and receivers Shane Glasser and Darion Grymaloski — as will the Lindsay Thurber Raiders in quarterback Wilson Lougheed, defensive back Greg Fowler and defensive lineman Brody Slagman. Also attending the camp from the Central Alberta League will be Notre Dame Cougars defensive lineman Victor Allier Ortiz, receivers Anton Stewart of the Stettler Wildcats and Stephen Nesdoly of the Camrose Trojans, linebacker Luke Marshall of the Sylvan Lake Lakers, Camrose tailback Jason Atherton and offensive linemen Daniel Christensen of Camrose and Brandon Diprose of the Wetaskiwin Sabres.

Rimbey Spartans defensive back Matthew Granson is also among the 180 players on the camp list.
