MEDICINE HAT— Three people are facing several charges after a police chase, two stolen vehicles and a standoff in southeastern Alberta.

Mounties say a vehicle stolen in Saskatoon crossed into Alberta while being chased by Saskatchewan RCMP on Tuesday.

The vehicle was spotted on Highway 41, but would not stop for police, so officers put down a spike belt.

Police say the vehicle was abandoned in a farmyard about eight kilometres east of Medicine Hat, Alta.

A 28-year-old male was arrested after a brief foot pursuit, while a 24-year-old female fled into a nearby unoccupied farmhouse and surrendered to police several hours later.

Police say another man, 42, allegedly stole a vehicle from the farmyard and that vehicle was stopped by a spike belt in Medicine Hat.

No names have yet been released.
