A care facility first, for this election

I have been reading with interest and some concern the article in Jan. 26 Advocate entitled Seniors care facility a first. A number of questions come to my mind.

I have been reading with interest and some concern the article in Jan. 26 Advocate entitled Seniors care facility a first. A number of questions come to my mind.

The first paragraph suggests that this will be a residence for seniors, no matter what their level of care. The fourth paragraph reads “care up to long-term care.” My question is does that mean long-term care or does it mean care up to (but not including) long-term care?

This project was announced in 2010, and now re-announced in 2012, which is an election year. Will we wait for the next election to hear the next chapter in this story and then what will that chapter say?

The next question in my mind concerns the location. Is this land that was once Michener Centre property and so a piece of Crown land? My understanding is that the government cannot sell Crown lands to a private entity. What is happening here?

The manager of Covenant Health states that land has been purchased for the second stage. Again the question: Whose land?
