Aboriginal affairs symposium planned

An Aboriginal Affairs Symposium will be hosted by the Anthropology Society of Red Deer College at the college’s Margaret Parsons Theatre on Saturday.

An Aboriginal Affairs Symposium will be hosted by the Anthropology Society of Red Deer College at the college’s Margaret Parsons Theatre on Saturday.

Speakers include former Alberta judge John Reilly, University of Calgary professor Jim Frideres, and Tanya Schur, executive director of the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre. They will cover a range of topics including funding on reserves, misconceptions and living conditions on reserves.

The symposium begins at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 5 p.m. at the theatre. After the presentations, there will be a question and answer session with the speakers. Doors open at 9 a.m. Admission is by donation.
