Terminally-ill man killed family, self

A man with terminal cancer gunned down his wife and daughter before turning the weapon on himself, say RCMP.

Kerry Saltel, 49, was found dead inside his home in Grande Cache, Alta., alongside wife Gail, 47, and daughter Erika, 17.

Another daughter, Linnea, 19, was in Grande Prairie at the time of the shootings.

Cpl. Wayne Oakes said autopsies found all three died from gunshot injuries and Kerry Saltel’s “appearing to have been self-inflicted.”

No motive was provided for the murder-suicide.

Worker killed at construction site

A worker has been killed in a highrise building construction accident in Calgary.

Emergency authorities say the man was crushed when some metal forms shifted and fell from a sling as they were being lifted by a crane.

The 27-year-old man, who assisted the crane operator with the movement of material on site, died at the scene.

Body of missing man found near Revelstoke

The body of an Alberta man has been found nearly two years after he was last seen.

Hikers found a car containing the body of Christopher Lee McConnell near a secluded ravine about three km east of the city in the B.C. interior.

Revelstoke RCMP Sgt. Art Kleinsmith believe McConnell was driving west on the Trans-Canada Highway when his vehicle plunged down a 10-metre embankment.
