Alberta cabinet minister Ted Morton cleared of evading scrutiny with 2nd email

Alberta Energy Minister Ted Morton has been cleared of allegations he used a different email name in government correspondence to avoid public scrutiny.

EDMONTON — Alberta Energy Minister Ted Morton has been cleared of allegations he used a different email name in government correspondence to avoid public scrutiny.

Information commissioner Frank Work says even though the email name “frederick lee” did not match the name Morton goes by, there was no intent to deceive.

Frederick Lee are Morton’s real first and second names.

Morton says he used the second email to help manage his correspondence and didn’t intended to deceive people or hide from freedom of information requests.

The allegations came up in a media report last month.

The media report also said Morton shredded documents, but Work says he found no evidence of that.
