Alberta flood forecasters keep close eye on rain-swollen rivers in northwest

Alberta flood forecasters are closely watching river and stream levels in the northwest after days of heavy rain.

PEACE RIVER, Alta. — Alberta flood forecasters are closely watching river and stream levels in the northwest after days of heavy rain.

The hamlet of Watino northeast of Grande Prairie remains under a flood warning and Fort Assiniboine is under a flood watch.

But Alberta Environment says levels in many other rivers and streams are slowly falling.

Another exception is the Town of Peace River, which is now under a high stream flow advisory.

Since Thursday, about 60 to 200 millimetres of rain fell on the region that includes the Athabasca and Peace river basins.

The weather forecast for the area includes showers and possible thundershowers.
