EDMONTON — The head of the board that runs Alberta’s health-care system has announced he is stepping down.
Ken Hughes has resigned as chairman of Alberta Health Services effective immediately.
Hughes says he is leaving the job to pursue other interests.
He is close to Alberta Premier Alison Redford and served on her transition team after she won the Tory leadership race.
A provincial election is expected in the spring.
Hughes will be temporarily replaced by vice-chair Catherine Roozen.
