EDMONTON — Provincial officials are investigating the deaths of four people who recently died after suffering asthma attacks.

All four people — including two men in their 20s, a man in his 50s and a middle-aged woman — died over a two week period last month.

Dr. Marcia Johnson, a public health official with Alberta Health Services, says while the investigation isn’t yet complete, they haven’t found anything to link the deaths.

Thick smoke blanketed areas of Alberta last week because of forest fires in British Columbia and health officials rated the air quality as poor.

But Johnson says there’s no indication that air quality had anything to do with the four deaths, which happened in July.
