CANMORE — Canmore RCMP have arrested a man wanted in the alleged abduction and attempted sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl earlier this week.
Jorge Betancourt, 37, of Canmore, was arrested without incident in Whistler, B.C.
Police say that on Wednesday, a young girl was allegedly pulled into the washroom of a public building and verbally invited to commit a sexual act.
The girl managed to escape unharmed.
RCMP say arrangements are being made to transport Betancourt to Canmore for a court appearance.
The accused was under release conditions imposed in another unrelated incident in Banff, at the time.
