Alberta man charged with sexually assaulting pre-teen girl in care

Police in Alberta have charged a 41-year-old man with sexually assaulting a pre-teen girl who is a ward of the province.

TURNER VALLEY — Police in Alberta have charged a 41-year-old man with sexually assaulting a pre-teen girl who is a ward of the province.

Turner Valley RCMP say officers were approached by concerned citizens of a southern Alberta reserve earlier this month.

After an investigation, a man was charged with sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference.

Police say he was serving a conditional sentence in the community after being convicted on similar charges.

The child has been placed in different surroundings.

The name of the man is not being released to protect the young girl’s identity.
