Alberta Mountie injured in shootout released from hospital

One of two Alberta RCMP officers injured in a shootout has been released from hospital.

BRETON — One of two Red Deer RCMP officers injured in a shootout has been released from hospital.

Mounties say a second officer remains in hospital, although his injuries are not life-threatening.

Both are members of an emergency response team that was called to a home Saturday near Breton, southwest of Edmonton, following a report that a man had been shot.

A man and woman were taken into custody after a lengthy standoff.

Police say the woman has been released from hospital and remains in custody, but the man is still being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers are still investigating at the scene and charges are pending.
