Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach appoints Calgary’s Len Webber to cabinet

Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach has appointed Calgarian Len Webber to cabinet.

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach has appointed Calgarian Len Webber to cabinet.

A government source says Webber is to be officially sworn in Thursday as intergovernmental affairs minister.

Webber replaces former Calgary Glenmore MLA Ron Stevens who resigned last May before being appointed to the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench.

Stelmach’s move comes only days after the Progressive Conservatives lost the Calgary Glenmore riding to the Wildrose Alliance in a byelection.

The source says Stelmach is to name a new deputy premier later this year but is not planning a cabinet shuffle.

Webber was not immediately available for comment.
