EDMONTON — Alberta Health Services hopes its phone information service will take some pressure off of clogged hospital emergency rooms.
The health superboard is launching a public information campaign this week to encourage more people to use its Health Link telephone system.
The service allows people to speak with a registered nurse on the phone about health and medical questions 24-hours a day, year-round.
Acting C-E-O Chris Eagle says people can use the service to find out if they really need to go to a hospital emergency room.
He says if more people use health link it would improve access at emergency departments.
Health Link responds to more than one million calls annually.
