Jenny Dodman, left, and Lauren Wourms of the Border City Stingrays from Lloydminster compete in the duet catagory at the 2011 Masters Provincials hosted by Red Deer Synchro at the Recreation Centre Pool, Saturday afternoon. The one-day event drew 85 athletes and 17 coaches, plus officials and families from across the province. This is the Masters provincial synchronized swimming meet, a competition for athletes who have less time to devote to training but wish to continue with the sport, as well as athletes who are new to the sport. The swimmers range in age from 18 to 75, and compete in solo, duet, trio team and combinations events. Red Deer Synchronized Swim Club had one team entry in the 35-49 Age group. The team — made up of Karen Draves, Martine Giguere, Natalie MacLise, Nicole Elliot and coach Meagan Schuster — was competing for the first time together and they came in first in their category.
