Canada’s 23rd ambassador to the United States is the next speaker in the Red Deer College’s lecture series, Perspectives: Canada in the World.

Gary Doer will speak at the Main Stage at the RDC Arts Centre starting at 7:30 p.m. on May 8. Doer has represented Canada since October 2009.

Doer served as the premier of Manitoba for 10 years before taking his current post.

He won three consecutive elections with successive increased majorities. As premier, Doer worked extensively with United States governors to enhance the Canada-United States co-operation on trade, agriculture, water protection, climate change and renewable energy.

The public lecture series featuring internationally recognized speakers is presented by RDC’s Humanities and Social Sciences Department.
