Anaheim Ducks sign forward Bobby Ryan to a five-year contract

The Anaheim Ducks have locked up forward Bobby Ryan with a five-year contract.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks have locked up forward Bobby Ryan with a five-year contract.

The sides had been negotiating since Ryan became a restricted free agent on July 1.

“We’re pleased to have come to an agreement with Bobby before training camp,” Ducks GM Bob Murray said in a statement. “Bobby is already a proven NHL goal-scorer at the age of 23 and certainly has his best years ahead of him.”

Ryan is coming off his best NHL season, having scored 35 goals and 64 points in 81 games.

He also represented the U.S. at the Vancouver Olympics and won silver.

Ryan was the second overall pick in the 2005 draft — going behind Sidney Crosby.
