Anderson three off lead at Rocky

Scott Anderson of Red Deer River Bend carded an opening-round 71 Wednesday and was three shots off the lead heading into today’s final 18 holes of the PGA of Alberta Assistants Championship at Pine Hills Golf Club.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE — Scott Anderson of Red Deer River Bend carded an opening-round 71 Wednesday and was three shots off the lead heading into today’s final 18 holes of the PGA of Alberta Assistants Championship at Pine Hills Golf Club.

Mike Belbin of Edmonton Royal Mayfair took the first-round lead with a 68, while Garett Jenkinson of Riverside Academy in Milk River shot a 69.

Roy Hide and Aaron Pakylak of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club (RDG&CC) had respective scores of 75 and 76, while Mathew MacDonald of Sundre came in with a 76.

Keith Palenchuk of the RDG&CC and Ryan Moore of Ponoka each recorded an 81.
