RCMP says a man came to the meeting at a community hall north of Cochrane, on Tuesday and brandished a revolver and a shotgun.

Police say he made no explicit threats.

He unloaded and surrendered the firearms at the request of others at the meeting.

Anthony John Allen, 50, of Bragg Creek, is charged with nine offences, including pointing a firearm, carrying a weapon while attending a public meeting and two counts of unlawful confinement.

Police also seized six registered firearms at Allen’s residence.
