Armstrong springs to gold in trampoline event

Mark Armstrong of Red Deer, who now trains out of the Airdrie Edge Gymnastics Club, won gold in the open trampoline event of the Alberta first trials to nationals competition at Airdrie during the weekend.

Mark Armstrong of Red Deer, who now trains out of the Airdrie Edge Gymnastics Club, won gold in the open trampoline event of the Alberta first trials to nationals competition at Airdrie during the weekend.

Armstrong earned a spot on the provincial team for the Canadian championships while completing his highest degree of difficulty to date. He will also compete in the open double-mini trampoline event at the national finals after placing second in the discipline at Airdrie.

Armstrong also competed in tumbling for the first time in several years and placed fifth.
