EDMONTON — Edmonton homicide detectives have made an arrest almost five years after a young man was stabbed on the city’s bar strip.

EDMONTON — Edmonton homicide detectives have made an arrest almost five years after a young man was stabbed on the city’s bar strip.

Police say Cliff Decoine-Zuninga is charged with manslaughter in the death of 20-year-old Dylan Cole McGillis in November 2006.

The accused, who is 23, is to appear in court Friday.

Police say they are still investigating and are looking for a second individual.

McGillis, who was from Lloydminster, was leaving a bar on Whyte Avenue when he and a friend got into an argument with some other men.

McGillis was knocked down and stabbed as his friend tried to help him.

Police said at the time that it was a random act of violence.

McGillis family members immediately created a memorial website seeking tips about the slaying. A year later, they held a memorial on the spot where he died and lamented that no arrests had been made.

His mother said she would always be haunted by the thought of her son bleeding to death in the street.
