Autopsy finds Edmonton-area man, 85, alleged victim of blunt trauma

STONY PLAIN — Alberta’s medical examiner has determined that an 85-year-old man whose body was discovered on a property west of Edmonton died from blunt trauma.

STONY PLAIN — Alberta’s medical examiner has determined that an 85-year-old man whose body was discovered on a property west of Edmonton died from blunt trauma.

RCMP have identified the man as Peppino Bassani of Acheson, Alta.

Bassani’s body was found last Friday when officers went to the property near Stony Plain to check on a report of an assault.

Police have not released any other details on how Bassani died.

A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the assault and was later charged with second-degree murder.

Kevin Michalchuk of Peace River, remains in custody and will appear in a Stony Plain courtroom on Wednesday.
