Most people walk their dog. But Doug Littau of Rimbey is a little different. He walks his three-month-old female bison named Baby. Baby tours the streets of Rimbey with Littau almost every night. Baby’s mother would have nothing to do with the calf so Littau, who works on a ranch, took Baby under his wing. As soon as Baby gets bigger she will be moved to a pasture. He would like to train Baby, and at this age she is doing a good job of learning. Littau’s wife Elaine loves the bison and comes home from work at lunch time to feed her. Baby is fed four times a day. “She is just like a family pet,” says Elaine. On his walks, Littau carries a big bag — just as the dog people — in case he has to do a clean-up job.
